π―π΅ Kashiwa, Chiba Β· Japan
The original and most famous Porsche widebody artist. Akira Nakai hand-forms every RWB body kit on-site, one car at a time, with no two ever alike.
RWB, short for Rauh-Welt Begriff (Rough World Concept), is the work of one man: Akira Nakai, who founded the company in Chiba in 1997 after cutting his teeth drifting and working at a Porsche body shop. Nakai builds each widebody kit by hand and on-site, flying to the client with little more than hand tools, cutting the original fenders and riveting new fiberglass arches directly to the body over two or three days of work. No two RWB cars are alike, and the company has grown from a single Chiba workshop into a global network of RWB USA, RWB UK and RWB Europe outposts. RWB is not a ground-up chassis re-engineer in the Singer or Theon mould; it is pure bodywork and stance, but no name has done more to make the widebody Porsche a global cultural symbol.
