The reference point for the entire restomod movement. Air-cooled 911s reimagined to obsessive standards.

No company has shaped the modern restomod idea like Singer. Founded by Rob Dickinson in California in 2009, Singer restores and reimagines customer-supplied air-cooled Porsche 911s (964-generation) with a level of detail that borders on the fanatical: nickel-plated fasteners, bespoke instruments, Ed Pink- and Williams-developed flat-sixes, and interiors trimmed like couture. Waiting lists run years and commissions start deep into seven figures, but the result is widely considered the benchmark every other builder is measured against. If the restomod world has a north star, it is here.

911 Carrera Cabriolet

Limited series (75)

Introduced in February 2026, the Carrera Cabriolet takes its cue from the wide-body Carrera Cabriolet variants Porsche offered in the mid-1980s, which paired the flared bodywork of the 911 Turbo with a naturally aspirated flat six. Singer's restoration begins with a donor Type 964 Cabriolet, stripped to its steel monocoque and reinforced with composite and steel strengthening before a lightweight carbon fibre wide-body is fitted, along with a newly engineered folding roof mechanism, built around a zigzag-hinged linkage, that keeps a clean profile whether the roof is raised or stowed. At its heart sits a 4.0 litre flat six developed with Cosworth, the first Singer engine to combine variable valve timing with water-cooled cylinder heads and air-cooled cylinders, producing 420 horsepower and revving past 8,000 rpm through a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. Four-way adjustable dampers with electronic damping control, carbon ceramic brakes, 18 inch centre-lock wheels and a driver-selectable five-mode stability system round out the chassis, with a fixed or speed-activated whale tail rear wing available as in period. It shares its underlying engine architecture with the Carrera Coupe launched a year earlier, and commissions are limited to 75 cars.

911 Carrera Coupe

Limited series (100)

Launched in 2025, the Carrera Coupe revives a rare factory ordering option from the 1980s that let buyers combine the flared Turbo bodywork with the naturally aspirated flat six rather than the standard turbocharged engine. Singer's take is built around the same restored Type 964 platform and shares its 4.0 litre, four-valve flat six with the Cabriolet, marking the first application of variable valve timing across a Singer engine and drawing on learnings from the DLS and DLS Turbo programmes for its water-cooled cylinder heads and air-cooled cylinder architecture. The result is a naturally aspirated G-model 911 reimagined with contemporary chassis strengthening, carbon fibre bodywork and the driving dynamics Singer's clients have come to expect, delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. Its debut in 2025 marked the point at which Singer's naturally aspirated engineering, first proven in the DLS, migrated into a more series-produced restoration programme.

DLS Turbo

Limited series (99)

Introduced in 2023, DLS Turbo extends Singer's Dynamics and Lightweighting Study philosophy into forced induction, and independent reporting from outlets including Top Gear, The Drive and Motor1 has filled in much of the technical picture behind it. Each car starts life as a client's Type 964 and is rebuilt around a twin-turbocharged 3.8 litre flat six tuned well beyond 700 horsepower, spinning to a redline past 9,000 rpm, paired with carbon ceramic brakes using monoblock calipers and forged magnesium centre-lock wheels, 19 inch at the front and 20 inch at the rear, wrapped in Michelin's stickiest Pilot Sport Cup tyres. The extreme widebody styling draws directly on the Porsche 934 and 935 endurance racers of the 1970s, with flared fenders, NACA ducts and a bonnet vent feeding cooling air to the turbochargers and brakes, and buyers can choose between a road-oriented specification without a rear wing or a track-focused version with a larger front splitter and fixed wing. Singer offers the programme in strictly limited numbers, with the first customer car, named Sorcerer by its owner, finished in a graduated Fantasia Blue with a track-focused rear wing and front fascia, magnesium wheels and a Pebble Grey leather and Alcantara interior with Champagne accents.

Classic Turbo

Available to commission

Presented in 2022, Classic Turbo pays homage to the original 930 Turbo of the mid-1970s and, according to reviews from evo and Top Gear, is built around a new evolution of Porsche's Mezger-derived air-cooled flat six in 3.8 litre form. The engine uses twin turbochargers sourced from the same supplier and generation used on the current 992 Turbo S, with variable turbine geometry and electric wastegates, and can be specified to produce either 450 or 500 brake horsepower depending on the customer's preference, driving through a six-speed manual gearbox to a car that weighs around 1,300 kilograms. Nearly the entire body is reshaped in carbon fibre for aerodynamic gain, with the steel doors deliberately kept as the sole exception, preserving the reassuring weight and sound of a period 911 closing shut. ABS and traction control, along with brakes specific to the model, bring period-correct proportions in line with contemporary safety expectations.

DLS

Sold out (75)

First presented in 2018, the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study represents Singer's most technically ambitious air-cooled programme, and grew out of a request from client Scott Blattner for the most extreme weight reduction Singer could achieve on his 1990 Porsche 964. That brief led Singer back to Williams Advanced Engineering, the F1-derived engineering division of the Williams Grand Prix Group, which developed a bespoke 4.0 litre flat six with input from Porsche engine architect Hans Mezger, featuring four-valve cylinder heads and titanium connecting rods to reach 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm ceiling. Extensive use of carbon fibre, magnesium and titanium, together with body panels shaped entirely through aerodynamic simulation, brought the car's weight down to under a tonne, with additional engineering support from Bosch, BBS, Brembo and Michelin. The programme's four-valve cylinder head and lightweighting philosophy have since fed directly into DLS Turbo and the naturally aspirated Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet services.

Classic

Sold out (450)

Classic Services represent the foundation of Singer's business and its founder's own history. Rob Dickinson, once the frontman of the band Catherine Wheel and trained as an automotive designer before that, began rebuilding a client's Porsche out of a rented space near Los Angeles in late 2008 and unveiled the finished car at Monterey Car Week in 2009, founding Singer Vehicle Design in the process. The company's name honors Norbert Singer, the German engineer who joined Porsche in 1969 and played a central role in developing the 911 for both road and racing use. Rooted in the F-model cars built between 1963 and 1973, each Classic restoration begins with a client's own 911, stripped to its monocoque and rebuilt with bespoke bodywork, mechanical upgrades and a fully personalized interior, the template from which every later Singer programme, including DLS, Classic Turbo, DLS Turbo and the Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet, has since evolved.
