Jacksonville father-and-son shop behind the C9 RS Turbo, a 420hp, 2,340lb answer to the RS Turbo road car Porsche never built.

Classic 9 Motorwerks is the work of Jim and Jason Faulkner, a father and son with decades of Porsche racing between them and, in Jim's case, 25 years as a practising architect. Their thesis is heritage-inspired rather than restored: a customer-supplied donor 911 from 1969 to 1989 is stripped to bare metal, acid dipped and reinforced at the unibody before being rebuilt as something the factory might plausibly have made. The C9 RS Turbo, shown at Amelia Island and Luft, pairs a 3.0-litre twin-plug turbocharged flat-six on Motec management, 420hp and 380lb-ft, with a 2,340lb kerb weight, and starts around $510,000 before the donor. A C9 GT6 drawn from the 914/6 GT and a C9 CS inspired by the 911 ST are to follow from the Jacksonville, Florida workshop.
