Kindred Motorworks
πΊπΈ Vallejo, California Β· United States
California's industrial-scale restomod house, building Broncos, VW Buses and 911s in petrol and electric form.
Kindred Motorworks treats restomodding as manufacturing rather than commission work. Founded by Rob Howard and based in a 100,000 square foot building on historic Mare Island, California, it employs more than a hundred designers, engineers and craftspeople and puts thousands of hours into prototyping each model before the first customer car is built. The range covers electric and petrol Ford Broncos, an electric VW Bus and an electric 911, priced from roughly $225,000 to $349,000 and sold through an online configurator and a growing dealer network. The promise is repeatability and everyday usability, which places Kindred closer to a small automaker than to a workshop.
