Twisted Automotive is where the modern Land Rover Defender restomod arguably began. Charles Fawcett started the business in Thirsk, North Yorkshire in 2001 as a part-time tuning operation, delivered his first fully modified Defender to a customer in 2006, and went full-time in 2008. Every Twisted Defender is hand-built to individual specification, from four-cylinder turbo petrols to 6.2 litre V8 conversions, with a showroom in Kensington, London alongside the Thirsk works. The 2026 TRRC extends the formula to the two-door Range Rover Classic, with bespoke aluminium bodywork and around 500hp. For sheer scale and brand recognition in the Defender world, only Arkonik and Kingsley are in the same conversation.
