Safari Project
πΏπ¦ Centurion Β· South Africa
South Africa's answer to the Porsche Safari trend: 911s widened, lifted and skid-plated for gravel roads, inspired by the East African Safari Rally.
Safari Project, known locally as SafariProjek, takes its cue from the East African Safari Classic Rally and from the Tuthill-built Safari cars of the 1970s. Working from Centurion, near Pretoria, the shop widens the front track by around 120mm, revises rear suspension geometry to shift weight forward under braking, fits a custom aluminium skid plate, and adds rally lighting for dirt roads with no streetlights. Builds are based on later 996 and 997-generation 911s, kept usable as daily drivers while genuinely capable off the tarmac. A distinctly African take on a trend most of the world associates with California and Europe.
