Paul Stephens
Featured house🇬🇧 Little Maplestead, Essex · United Kingdom
Quietly excellent British 911 specialist. The Autoart series offers tasteful, lightweight builds without the waiting-list theatre.
Paul Stephens has been restoring, selling and reimagining classic 911s in Essex for over three decades, and the Autoart line is the understated British take on the restomod: lightweight Le Mans Classic Clubsport editions, elegant backdates, and bespoke commissions built with restraint rather than spectacle. The company's long dealing history means cars are built on properly sorted foundations. Less hyped than the California names and priced more sanely, it's a strong choice for buyers who value substance over Instagram presence.

993R
Available to commissionThe 993R is the current flagship, a seam-welded, roll-cage equipped reinterpretation of the 993 Carrera 2 that strips dry weight from 1,370 kg to 1,190 kg (1,220 kg wet) through measures such as a genuine Porsche Motorsport aluminium bonnet, composite front and rear bumpers and engine lid, lightweight manual mirrors, and a stripped, carbon fibre Recaro-equipped interior with an airbag-delete option as on the 993 Clubsport. Its 3.8 litre flat-six, built around a 997 GT3 crankshaft and oil pump, 993 RSR barrels and pistons, and Paul Stephens' own camshaft and individual throttle body specification, produces 330 bhp at 7,400 rpm as standard, with a 360 bhp, 8,500 rpm option available, driving through the 993 G51.21 six-speed gearbox, lightweight flywheel and clutch, and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential. Handling comes from five-way adjustable active suspension developed with Tractive and Center Gravity, OE Porsche Motorsport suspension hardware, 993 RS discs and calipers with ABS, and genuine Porsche 996 GT3 RS 18 inch wheels front and rear, all wrapped in a fully bespoke, luggage-compartment-equipped body.

Classic Touring Series II
Available to commissionThe Classic Touring Series II is built on the 911 2.2 and 2.4 of 1970 to 1973, widely regarded as the prettiest 911 generation and immortalised by Steve McQueen's Le Mans, reworked for the owner who wants that era's timeless style with genuinely usable daily refinement. Power runs from a 3.2 litre, 235 bhp base engine through a 3.4 litre 250 bhp option to the 3.4S at 290 bhp with Paul Stephens' individual throttle bodies and sports camshafts, cutting the 0-60 mph time to under 5 seconds and pushing on to 162 mph, paired with either the original 915 or an optional Getrag G50 five-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential standard on the S. Chassis upgrades mirror the Clubsport, with Bilstein or optional KW3 adjustable dampers and an available four-piston braking upgrade, while the interior is a faithful, modern-tolerance recreation of the original cabin finished in the owner's choice of trim, offered with electric and heated seats, air conditioning, a Bluetooth audio system, bespoke luggage and, on both Coupe and Targa body styles, backed by a 3-year, 60,000-mile warranty.

Clubsport Series II
Available to commissionThe Clubsport Series II traces back to a lightweight coupe Paul Stephens first launched in 2007 under a "less is more" ethos, relaunched in 2017 as the Series II with styling and performance elements drawn from across the 911's history and built to order. Offered exclusively as a two-seat coupe with an optional Touring Package of tilting seats and hand-stitched leather, it strips to as little as 1,000 kg and is available across five states of tune, from the Clubsport 240 at 3.2 litres and 240 bhp through the 270, 300 and 320 to the range-topping Clubsport 350 at 3.8 litres and 350 bhp, reaching 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and 180 mph flat out. All versions run a Getrag G50 five-speed gearbox with hydraulic clutch and dry-sump lubrication, with Bilstein Nurburgring dampers as standard and fully adjustable KW3 items optional, four-piston Porsche 986 calipers standard from the 300 upward, and a choice of Minilite or Group 4 Campagnolo wheels.
