Rünge Cars
🇺🇸 Farwell, Minnesota · United States
Christopher Rünge shapes aluminium roadsters by hand in a Minnesota barn: original designs on period air-cooled mechanicals.
Christopher Rünge is a one-man coachbuilder working out of a barn in the Minnesota countryside, and he only builds his own designs. Each car is panelled in thin aluminium formed over a wooden buck with an English wheel, wrapped around a light tube frame he calls Superleicht. Underneath sit mid-mounted flat-four engines and 1950s and 60s Porsche hardware such as 356 drum brakes and Longbox gearboxes, tuned for real road use. The RS010 took roughly 2,000 hours to complete. New commissions carry a waiting list of around two years. A rare example of genuine American coachbuilding, with several Jay Leno's Garage appearance to its name.
