🇩🇪 Pleidelsheim · Germany

The Mercedes-Benz authority. Flawless restorations and the M-SL/M-Coupé programmes with modern AMG V8 hearts.

Mechatronik in Pleidelsheim is to classic Mercedes what Singer is to the 911, with a German accent: restraint, engineering rigour, and finishing to concours standard. Its signature programmes transplant modern Mercedes V8 drivetrains into the W113 Pagoda SL and W111 coupés so seamlessly the factory might have done it, alongside museum-grade pure restorations. The company's parts and service operation underpins the builds with real depth. For Stuttgart's three-pointed star, this is the definitive address in Europe.

Models & builds

New-Tech M-Coupe & M-Cabrio

max. 5 per year

The M-Coupe and M-Cabrio are built on the W111, offered either as a complete assembly from a fully restored Mechatronik base car, limited to five per year, or as a pure New-Tech retrofit into a client's existing vehicle, also capped at five annually, which upgrades the engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes and safety systems without touching the exterior. Power comes from the Mercedes M113 V8 in either 5.0 litre form at 306 hp and 225 kW or 5.5 litre form at 354 hp and 260 kW, an engine 30 kilograms lighter than the original drivetrain that is stripped, inspected for low mileage and rebuilt entirely by hand before a two day bench test, paired with the Mercedes 5-speed NAG1 automatic transmission. The suspension uses a double wishbone front axle and single-jointed swing axle with hydropneumatic differential springs and level control, complemented by Mechatronik's own sport suspension built around KW Automotive springs and dampers, with a limited-slip differential fitted as standard on the rear axle when paired with the 5.5 litre engine. Braking pairs the larger two-piston W126 system with perforated, internally ventilated discs at the front and a refined W111 setup at the rear, all working alongside ABS as standard, while the exterior can be finished in original Mercedes-Benz uni or metallic paint or a dedicated Mechatronik colour, with 15 or 16 inch Penta or baroque alloy wheels, and the interior is trimmed entirely to order in leather, carpet and veneer with comfort features such as electric windows, heated seats with lumbar support, a Mechatronik sound system and Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

New-Tech M-SL

max. 5 per year

The M-SL applies the identical New-Tech approach to the W113 "Pagoda," again available as either a fully restored complete build or a New-Tech retrofit onto an existing car, both limited to five vehicles per year. Its M113 V8 is offered in 4.3 litre form at 279 hp and 205 kW or 5.0 litre form at 306 hp and 225 kW, built to the same low-mileage, hand-rebuilt and two-day bench-tested standard as the Coupe and Cabrio and mated to the same 5-speed NAG1 automatic. The suspension carries over the double wishbone front axle and hydropneumatic swing axle with level control, sharpened by Mechatronik's own KW-based sport suspension and a standard rear limited-slip differential when specified with the 4.3 litre engine, while braking again combines the larger two-piston W126 front system with perforated ventilated discs against a refined W113 rear setup, all backed by standard ABS. The interior is finished with the same bespoke range of leather, carpet and veneer options, comfort seating with lumbar support and heating, and the Mechatronik sound system with Bluetooth and USB, giving the M-SL the same blend of period-correct looks and everyday drivability as its W111 siblings.
