HWA AG was founded by Hans Werner Aufrecht, the 'A' in AMG, and has run Mercedes' DTM programmes for decades. The HWA EVO applies that race-team engineering to the Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II: a carbon-bodied, roughly 500hp reimagining of the DTM homologation icon, limited to 100 units and developed like a competition car. This is a restomod from the people who built the original's racing legend, a provenance very few builders can claim.

Limited series (100)The HWA EVO, built by HWA AG in Affalterbach, Germany, reinterprets one of touring car racing's most iconic silhouettes, the Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II, as a completely new technical development rather than a restomod, with a proprietary carbon-hybrid architecture engineered from the ground up and limited to 100 vehicles worldwide. Power comes from a V6 biturbo producing 368kW (500hp) through a 6-speed manual in a transaxle layout that balances weight distribution for sharper steering and traction, delivering 0-100km/h in under 4 seconds, a top speed of 281km/h and a curb weight of 1,485kg. Chassis tuning and aerodynamics draw on HWA's decades of motorsport experience, while ESP, ABS and traction control were developed with Bosch Engineering and validated through OEM-level crash testing and NŸrburgring Nordschleife trials. The exterior reworks the original silhouette with wider arches and functional aero elements, the cabin pairs a driver-focused layout with digital displays, and the first customer car was delivered in July 2026 through a global sales partner network.
