The definitive restored Wolf: 250GD Mercedes G-Wagens rebuilt over 18 months to better-than-new standard.

Expedition Motor Company does one thing with total focus: the Mercedes-Benz 250GD 'Wolf' (the military-spec W461 G-Wagen) rebuilt from the chassis up over roughly 18 months. Every truck gets a rebuilt OM602 diesel, restored drivetrain, marine-grade wiring and a tastefully modernised interior while keeping the Wolf's honest, analogue character. For those clients in need of more power a LS3-V8 is on option. Founder Alex Levin built the company on transparency: each build is documented publicly in detail. For vintage G-Class buyers it has become the obvious first call in North America.

EMC 250GD Wolf

Available to commission

Expedition Motor Company, based in Frenchtown, New Jersey, specializes in the 250GD Wolf, the ex-military Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen distinguished by its fold-down windshield, frameless windows, two-door body and factory diesel engine, criteria that define a true "Wolf" under the German military codename. Every truck begins life as a donor sourced through first right of refusal contracts with several European militaries, then undergoes a 100-point, in-house restoration exceeding 2,500 man-hours, transforming it into a fully convertible G-Wagen with a choice of bikini or full soft top. Buyers can specify one of four engines: the original Mercedes OM602 naturally aspirated diesel, the period-correct OM605a turbodiesel at 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft, the OM606a turbodiesel at 275 horsepower and 350 lb-ft, or a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 producing 430 horsepower and 430 lb-ft, paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. Both short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase Cabrio configurations are available, with build times running five months for SWB and seven months for LWB, and every completed Wolf carries a one-year bumper-to-bumper warranty alongside a two-year powertrain warranty, complimentary enclosed shipping worldwide, and Section 179 eligibility given a gross vehicle weight rating of 2,950kg (6,504 lbs).
