Featured house

🇨🇭 Dornach · Switzerland

Swiss air-cooled Porsche specialist: bare-shell 964 restomods powered by an in-house 4.3-litre flat-six.

Erbacher is a Swiss performance house in Dornach that reinterprets air-cooled Porsche icons, working mainly from the 964 model. Every car, with the exception of the more restrained Erbacher Pure, is a complete bare-shell reconstruction, rebuilt from the ground up rather than lightly updated. At its heart sits an in-house developed 4.3-litre air-cooled flat-six, enlarged from the 964's 3.6-litre unit and tuned to deliver roughly 405 to 430 hp. Founded by Urs Erbacher, the company treats each commission as a personal interpretation of an air-cooled icon rather than a catalogue build, pairing Swiss precision with genuine engineering depth. For collectors who want an air-cooled 911 rebuilt without compromise, and with real power to match the craftsmanship, Erbacher is among the most serious names in the German-speaking scene.

Models & builds

Erbacher One

Available to commission

The Erbacher ONE represents the most refined and luxurious expression in the range, built for owners who value craftsmanship and everyday usability alongside restrained, effortless performance rather than outright extremes. Based on a Porsche 964 stripped to bare shell and rebuilt from scratch, it can be specified with a range of engines up to the 4.3 litre EGMO flat six, developed with EGMO and offering 405 PS as standard or up to 430 PS with an alternate crankshaft. What sets the ONE apart is its depth of detail: hand milled aluminium wing mirrors made from eighteen individual parts, a hand turned aluminium fuel filler set into the bonnet, a side mounted oil filler on the passenger side, and machined aluminium switchgear and dials inside. Bodywork is almost entirely bespoke carbon, including the front and rear bumpers, the nose with integrated splitter and oil cooler, bonnet, front wings, roof, engine cover and sill covers, complemented by lowered, deepened sills and a newly developed retractable rear spoiler. The cabin is fully configurable in material and finish, extending to a leather lined engine bay bulkhead and a leather wrapped rollcage.

Erbacher Performance

Available to commission

The Erbacher Performance is built around the idea of race car feel on the road: a Porsche 964 backdate stripped of excess weight and sharpened in every response so that driver, car and road stay in direct contact. Power comes from the 4.3 litre EGMO flat six, tuned for strong mid range torque and immediate throttle response, with output up to 430 PS depending on crankshaft specification, and the car is fully road legal in Switzerland with complete type approval. Weight reduction is central to the concept, with configurations able to come in under 1,000 kg thanks to extensive use of bespoke carbon fibre across the front and rear ends, engine cover with its ducktail, sills, bonnet and roof. A shortened steering ratio and short shifter sharpen the controls further, while a six piston brake system and a chassis tuned purely for feedback and control complete the package. Inside, infotainment is generally left out altogether in favour of a reduced, purist cabin that can still include carbon seat shells, door cards and knee braces trimmed in Alcantara or woven leather.

Erbacher Ultimate Turbo

Available to commission

The Ultimate Turbo is Erbacher's flagship and its most powerful car, built around a newly developed twin turbocharged air cooled flat six on the Porsche 993 platform, engineered jointly with EGMO. The 4.0 litre biturbo unit produces 550 to 600 PS and 650 to 700 Nm while retaining the character of an air cooled engine, supported by a reinforced drivetrain, uprated cooling and a high performance braking system built to handle the extra load. Bodywork grows wider and more assertive to match, with increased track width, aerodynamic carbon components including a signature rear wing, and every panel gap and transition finished by hand, an aesthetic the team refers to internally as the "bad boys look." The interior pairs that same boldness with high craftsmanship, combining full leather, Alcantara and carbon trim into a cabin that stays composed under hard use while remaining unmistakably luxurious. At 1,130 kg and capable of 315 km/h with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds, it sits at the top of the range as the most technically complete Erbacher build.

Erbacher Pure

Available to commission

The Pure is the quietest and most original car in the range, built for owners who value the authentic character of the air cooled platform over visual statement or outright performance, favouring refinement over transformation. Exterior proportions stay close to the original Porsche 964 shape, with carbon components generally avoided so as not to compromise that authenticity, and the standard 3.6 litre flat six can be left close to stock, sensitively rebuilt, or enlarged on request up to 3.9 litres (around 350 PS and 400 Nm) or as far as 4.3 litres, always tuned for smooth delivery rather than peak output. Suspension and brakes can be left original or quietly upgraded for better everyday drivability without losing the classic feel, and the same restraint carries through the cabin, which can be preserved close to its original specification, re-trimmed, or fully reinterpreted with premium materials and hand finished Erbacher details. The result is a car built on authenticity and lasting quality rather than spectacle.

Erbacher Outlaw

Available to commission

The Outlaw is the newest and most radical car in the Erbacher range, still under active development and refined in close collaboration with each customer, drawing on the raw spirit of historic racing cars and translating it into a road legal build. It is defined above all by an extreme widebody stance, with no narrow bodied version planned, giving it a deliberately aggressive, unmistakable presence built purely around the driver. Power comes standard from a 4.3 litre EGMO Signature naturally aspirated flat six producing 430 PS, with a twin turbo configuration available for those wanting a significantly more extreme, high output build, and the platform is otherwise open to specification, with chassis tuning available for either road use or a dedicated track setup. Inside, the philosophy is deliberately spartan: a motorsport-focused cabin stripped to essentials, with visible structure, lightweight materials and freely specified seats and rollcage design, leaving room for individual refinement where the owner wants it. Weighing between 970 and 1,050 kg with a 300 km/h top speed and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, it stands as the boldest expression of Erbacher's philosophy.
