Shelby-licensed continuation Mustangs. Official GT500CR and GT350CR builds with up to 1,000hp.
Classic Recreations holds official licences from Shelby American and Ford to build continuation and restomod versions of the classic Shelby Mustangs such as the GT500CR and GT350CR as well as carbon-bodied GT40s and other Blue Oval icons. Each car starts from an original-era body or licensed shell and gains modern Coyote or supercharged power up to four figures, modern suspension, and a warranty. In the American muscle world, that official Shelby sanction separates it from the crowd of unlicensed builders. Now part of Velocity Restorations.
Models & builds
1967-68 GT500
Available to commissionThe Classic Recreations 1967-68 GT500 is an officially Shelby-licensed restomod built on a hand-formed steel body, reviving the original GT500 with modern engineering underneath period-correct sheet metal. Power comes from a Ford Performance Gen IV Coyote 5.0L V8, offered with either a 10-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual, running through a hand-built custom side exhaust and riding on Detroit Speed Quadralink suspension with Wilwood 14-inch 6-piston slotted and vented brakes. The cabin is trimmed in handcrafted Shelby leather with a FOCAL premium audio system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and every car is entered into the Shelby Unified Registry with its own serial number as a licensed continuation vehicle. Pricing starts at $424,900, with the engine lineup across the range spanning 480 to 825 horsepower depending on chosen configuration.

1967-68 GT500 CR Carbon
Available to commissionThe 1967-68 GT500CR Carbon is Classic Recreations' halo variant, billed as the world's only officially licensed carbon fiber Shelby GT500, with every body panel formed from aerospace-grade carbon fiber to shed hundreds of pounds versus the steel-bodied car. It shares the same Ford Performance Gen IV Coyote 5.0L V8 and choice of 10-speed automatic or 6-speed manual, Detroit Speed Quadralink suspension and Wilwood 14-inch 6-piston brakes at its base Stage 1 trim, but climbs meaningfully from there: Stage 2 adds a Whipple 3.0 supercharger for 700hp, while range-topping Stage 3 pairs a Wegner Automotive-built Coyote V8 with the same supercharger, a carbon fiber driveshaft, Forgeline X Carbon Grudge wheels and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes for 900hp. Pricing runs from $549,900 at Stage 1 to $624,900 at Stage 2 and $724,900 at Stage 3, and like the steel GT500, each carbon car carries its own Shelby registry serial number.

1969 Hitman
Available to commissionThe 1969 Hitman is Classic Recreations' tribute to one of the most recognizable movie Mustangs ever put on screen, a Mach 1 fastback rebuilt with modern fabrication and a strengthened chassis beneath its reimagined steel body. It runs the same Ford Performance Gen IV Coyote 5.0L V8 with a 10-speed automatic or 6-speed manual, paired here with a Borla performance exhaust, Detroit Speed Pro-Touring suspension, Forgeline wheels and Wilwood slotted and vented disc brakes. Inside, a minimalist cabin combines handcrafted leather with dark finishes and the same FOCAL touchscreen audio system as the rest of the range. Pricing starts at $449,900, and as with the GT500 models, the Hitman is registered as a licensed Shelby continuation vehicle with its own unique serial number.

1969 Boss
Available to commissionThe 1969 Boss trades the small-block Coyote for something considerably larger, built around Ford's 7.3L Godzilla V8, an iron-block engine chosen for the same asphalt-twisting torque the original Boss 429 was known for, only with modern reliability behind it. It's paired with a 10-speed automatic or 6-speed manual, a custom performance exhaust, Detroit Speed Pro-Touring suspension, Forgeline 3-piece billet wheels and Wilwood 14-inch 6-piston brakes, all wrapped in a restored and reinforced period-correct steel body. The interior mixes classic simplicity with hand-stitched leather and modern electronics, again through the shared FOCAL infotainment system. Starting at $449,900, the Boss rounds out the muscle end of the lineup as, in Classic Recreations' words, "a new Boss for a new era."
